New Zealand Secondary Schools Art Competition

This competition was open to all New Zealand secondary school students interested in designing an astronomical poster celebrating the International Year of Astronomy 2009. The competition theme was Astronomy in Aotearoa New Zealand. The winning entries had their artwork published in Southern Stars, the official magazine of the Royal Astronomical Society of New Zealand.

The winning entry was made by Jerry Liu from Botany Downs Secondary School in Auckland. Jerry received an ASTRONZ GS680 200mm (8") Dobsonian telescope for his school, generously donated by ASTRONZ Ltd, valued at $849.
