New Zealand Astronomers

Introduction

Although small in numbers, New Zealanders have left and are still making their marks on the international stage of science. This section is dedicated to all those who have made a name for themselves in the past and those who are working on it right now. Included are astronomers, space scientists and scientists from related fields.

This list does not claim to be complete. It is currently being compiled and links to more information about the individuals will be added as they will become available.

If you are a New Zealander and an active astronomer, at home or overseas, or know of someone else who is not yet on our NZ Astronomers pages, please contact us with details and possibly a link to a personal web page. We would love to create a complete list of all Kiwi astronomers. This includes also astronomers of other nationalities working in New Zealand.
Thank you!

The lists are sorted by surname in strictly alphabetical order.

The Lists

Note: The initial third category (Honorary Kiwis) has been integrated into Current Kiwis. Honorary Kiwis we had called those people who chose to work here in New Zealand and, after a few years when we have taken them into our hearts, we claim them for us! In the end, it turned out quite difficult to tell the difference between those who do and do not have the New Zealand citizenship.
